Hi I live in Canada and I am planning of getting the iPhone 12. If I it buy from here will I get the benefit of 5g in the phone? Or should I order from the USA.

Magsafe actually immediately wears off the back of an iphone 12 pro. I tried it for 5 minutes and then returned. Though the sign did disappear after a while.

I don't think metal is harder than glass, no. But of course it will depend which metal we're talking about. Hopefully Apple's thought about it and tested it, but it will probably cause wear eventually anyway.

I think people are missing the point of the usb-c to lightning cable: the cable is there to make it easier for android users to move across to Apple. Existing Apple users already have all the bricks they need and lightning cables that work with them. So strategically they're not giving existing Apple users any charging accessories with the phone, that cable is for android users.

Be careful with the charging pad, the iPhone may scratch it instead.

Magsafe is not a wireless charger. It's a wired charger without a power brick. Two hand operation to take it off your phone. Same as plugging it in with a USB cable.

I mean, to be honest, how many people have a lighting cable from any previous year? or some sort of a charger from either an older model iPhone or hell even an older iPad....that's the point of them removing the dinky 5w charger, they're not forcing you to get Magsafe, it's an option but def not needed and it's not like another non Magsafe thing magically doesn't work. I think the idea of magsafe is to bring everyone over to wireless charging, so in the future they can remove the current charging port, it would also tie in slightly with the move to not include charging bricks with new phones, oh and only a USB-C cable which conveniently matches up to their wireless chargers 🤔

No charging brick because a smaller box saves the environment. But you can buy a MagSafe charger which also comes in its own box. But it also has no charging brick which can also be bought separately in its own box too. Now you have three boxes, lol.

In France we also get the headphones in the box. Check it out on apple.fr. no charger and no headphone is a huge NO when they're a lot of great Android options out there.

Apple is making bold moves by removing their charging brick from the new iPhone 12's. Now that I'm seeing this MagSafe charger, I get the feeling removing the charging brick is just a marketing tactic (rather than being "environmentally friendly") by Apple to get people to buy this new charging accessory. I bet Apple will remove the lightning cable port from their future iPhones, just like how they removed the headphone jack to encourage people to purchase AirPods.

The removal of charging bricks has nothing to do with the environment, it has everything to do with shipping cost, production cost and making $$$. The price of the phone hasn't been reduced, plus they give you a USB-C cable and 90% of people buying one of these won't have a USB-C brick, it's a deliberate tactic to get people to buy the brick separate, save on shipping costs, save on production costs, still charge you the same and make an extra 100 million $ along the way. Don't be gullible.

Metal is not necessarily harder than glass, for what it's worth. Aluminum is soft, but it is also oxidized on the surface of it and aluminum oxide is harder than glass.

I'm pretty sure metal is softer than glass but I get where you're comming from. It probably will over time show some signs of use. Also, it will actually show less wear on a frosted back because frosted back works kind of like a sandpaper, if you would try to scratch (even very hard) iPhone 12 Pro's back with a penny or keys, it will leave marks, but it will be just a lot of metal dust, and no scratches what so ever.
