I still hate the soldered on ram. I have seen ram fail in older macbooks enough that I just can't get behind this. I would rather have a laptop that is a couple of mm thicker with removable ram and a more reliable keyboard. This keyboard is still unproven.

I’m a student, and since online classes started i use a laptop pretty much every day. Mostly for general stuff like youtube, docs, OneNote, zoom and stuff. But occasionally i also edit videos and hopefully try photoshop/illustrator (i really want to try adobe premier pro, i use to edit in imovie and adobe rush mainly for uni presentation projects). I was using an acer laptop that somehow couldn’t handle the adobe premier pro. I was thinking to change to macbook air 2020 i3 (since its the cheapest, and i love apple products), is it worth it and possible with my needs? Or is there any other products (windows is fine) that might accommodate my needs better than the mac (with similar or cheaper price range)? Some things i also consider is the lightweight and thin of the laptop, need it to be easily brought since i will be going to classes soon. Thank you

I’ve had my MacBook Pro from 2012 and you’re right about being deep into the OS. I ended up buying my gf a windows pc and that’s the first time I’ve been introduced to the windows 10 os. I love how the storage and ram is upgradeable if ever what’s inside is not enough. If ever I get a new laptop for myself, it might (75% chance) be a windows laptop.

I have a 2016 MBP. I regret not fixing my (then-broken) MacBook Air and just waiting for something without the constantly breaking keyboard. Now I think it would be foolish to buy a non-ARM Mac - as foolish as buying PPC Mac when the Intel switch was announced. You know Apple is not going to support Intel long enough for the purchase to make sense. There is also the issue of decreasing freedom on the platform, and the vast pile of breakages of perfectly good software (that will never be updated) by dropping 32-bit support. That last one sucked, and was almost enough to make me buy a Windows laptop. What makes me more frustrated than anything is how the PC laptops are still total trash in comparison. Mushy keyboards, awful trackpads (why are they always on the left? I'm right handed!), sub-par displays, spotty drivers - the list goes on. How are they still so bad??? Is it Apple patents???

I’d recommend a laptop with butterlfy keyboard over an 2014 macbook air anyday of the week. It has a shitty 900p panel, 4th generation i5 while that was old by then. Some even came with only 4gb of ram. At least 2018 macbook air had decent hardware except for the keyboard

Not Dave, but I'm here to help. I set up a hackintosh, as it turns out Macs aren't very picky about their software. You can get them from the Mac App Store, or download them from the internet as a .dmg file, or you can use a package manager like Homebrew.

I love your content Dave. I am a software engineer and I have been using Lenovo during collage years and I absolutely love the keyboard of Lenovo devices, one of the best in keyboard. But I got Macbook Pro in my first company and that was my first macbook and to be honest I am in love with MacBook since then it's been 2 years. Maybe I am lucky I didn't have keyboard issues in 2016 model. Almost Developers prefer Mac, i dunno since then Windows OS seems like a trash and really really annoying.
